This is the California real estate update for March 2. Hello this is Mary West and this segment is sponsored by Group 1 Real Estate.

Today we look at how animals in the home can impact real estate. A recent study by the National Association of Realtors revealed that animals in the home could have a negative impact on the selling process for homeowners.

However, the study also indicated that over 60 percent of U.S. households owned an animal or plan to own one in the future. Over 80 percent believe animal-related considerations will play a role in future living situations.

Sellers in a dog friendly community might attract more buyers with home improvements that include a fenced yard, a pet door, and laminate flooring.
